Walking Tour of Athens & Greek Mezedes
Leaving the quayside, you will drive to Athens heading to the Acropolis hill. After a short photo opportunity accompanied by your guide's explanations on this remarkable site you'll will commence your walking tour during which you'll be coming across the modern and ancient history of Athens. Descending the Acropolis pedestrian zone, cross to the National Park, which Athenians call the green lung in the heart of the city and you come to Herod Atticus Road where you will see the President’s residence, the former palace. Walking down Herod Atticus Road, you will see the marble Stadium of Athens where the first Olympic Games were held in 1896. The stadium was originally built in the 4th century B.C. Walk on towards the neoclassical Zappeion Building, across which you can admire its huge columns, crowned by Corinthian capitals. Behind it, a Roman monument of Athens, the Hadrian Gate, having served as the border between the Greek and the Roman sections of the city.
You'll then pass by the House of Parliament, in front where you will view the monument to the Unknown Soldier. You will also see the Evzonoi- the Presidential Guards in their beautiful national costumes. Within a few minutes, you will reach the most famous neighbourhood of Athens, Plaka, where you will walk through it, enjoying its very special and unique character, coming upon monuments like Lysikrates with rich history. Your tour will end at a Greek ouzeri where you'll enjoy a variety of Greek specialities, "Mezedes" in Greek, accompanied by a glass of Greek ouzo.

Comfortable walking shoes and a sun hat recommended.
Tour includes a considerable amount of walking and thus not recommended for physically assisted or persons with walking difficulties.
