Frankincense Trail
Officially called the Sultanate of Oman it is the oldest independent state in the Arab world, and one of the more traditional countries in the Gulf region.
Occupying the south-east corner of the Arabian peninsula, it has a strategically important position at the mouth of the Gulf.
Oman's tourism attractions include a largely-untouched coastline, mountains, deserts and the burgeoning capital Muscat, with its forts, palaces and old walled city.
Salalah
Called the Garden City, Salalah is nestled among coconut, papaya and banana plantations and orchards unique in the entire Gulf region.
A tropical paradise with broad avenues bathed in lush vegetation and traditional and modern lifestyles exuding serene ambience.
The second largest city in the Sultanate of Oman and the largest city in the Dhofar Provence. Traditional stronghold and birthplace of Sultan Qaboos, the ruler of Oman.
It gained prominence due to the Frankincense extracted from the Frankincense trees found in this region.
