The Bedouin Experience

What begun as an isolated fishing village on the mainland coast of the Red Sea in the early 20th century, has gone on to become the foremost tourist resort of the Red Sea Coast, boasting all the facilities of the modern city without losing its timeless desert ambience.

The drive from Safaga to Hurghada takes approximately one hour on a paved road before you veer off into the desert for another 25 km, reaching a Bedouin settlement. With its desolate, rough terrain and stark rock-strewn outcrops, the natural environment of the desert provides excellent photo opportunities. Arriving at the settlement you will be welcomed by the very hospitable Bedouins into their Tent where you can rest a while. Their aromatic tea and flat, unleavened bread will be served. Camel riding into the desert will take place before a BBQ lunch will be served for your enjoyment back at the Tent.

Bedouin folkloric dancing will take place during lunch for your entertainment. Later, reboard your 4X4 wheel drive jeeps for the return to Safaga.

Special Notes:
Guests must be able to walk approximately 100 yards over gravel and sandy surfaces.

Sunscreen, sunglasses and hats are recommended.

Comfortable walking shoes and casual clothing recommended.

Rest room facilities at the Tent are oriental style.

Photo opportunities while in the desert hills.

Tea at the Tent is made with bottled water and served in small tin cups.
