Aleppo
Officially the Syrian Arab Republic, Syria is a country in Western Asia, bordering the Mediterranean Sea.
Modern Syria was established after the 1st World War as a French mandate and gained independence in April 1946. It encompasses the sites of several ancient kingdoms and empires from the third millennium BC. Its capital city, Damascus, is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. The country’s population is made up of Sunni Muslims, Alawis, Christians and Druze.
Latakia
The city is the principal port of Syria as well as the capital of the Latakia Governorate. In addition to serving as a port, Latakia is a manufacturing centre for the surrounding agricultural towns and villages.
